May we always be
worthy of that
'privileged pedestal' bestowed us by the unconditional hearts of our pets.
You provide your pets and home, and I'll do the rest!
The odds of a lost pet never being returned to you is far greater than one would assume... a high 90% :(
With the 'unforeseen' lurking about, it is never too late to microchip both Cats and Dogs.
ANY age. Very simple inexpensive injection between the shoulder blades... pets don't feel it.
ID scanners (located at all shelters, rescue groups, and vet clinics) will then be able to identify your lost pet.
~ Homeless need love too ~
The safest place for your pets is WITH YOU... no matter what the circumstance.
~ Prepare a list of pet-friendly lodges & policies, and as back-up, a list of preferred pet boarding facilities.
~ Remember! Red Cross Shelters ONLY accept Service Animals assisting those with disabilities.
~ You may not be home when disaster strikes... ALWAYS safeguard your pets by placing an Emergency Pet Decal visible at the front of your residence. Indicate how many pets inside need to be saved. PawsWatch provides these decals to new clients.
~ My tip for making a less stressful evacuation... have a plan for gathering all pets into one confined area, scooping up the most savvy/fearful kitty first, and then on down the line. With exception of elderly or ill dogs, they will normally be anxious and willing to hop in the vehicle just to be with you. With time of the essence, have all necessary items ready to grab for you and your pets!
